According to Premium Sport in Italy, Liverpool have made an enquiry to Roma about signing midfielder Kevin Strootman this month.
Liverpool are expected to lose Emre Can in the long term amid strong rumours of a move to Juventus and the Reds will have to replace the German powerhouse, despite Naby Keita's arrival next summer.
Strootman appears to have put his injuries to one side and is now a regular for the Italian giants, starting 17 games in all competitions this season.
And Liverpool fans seem to be behind the idea of seeing him ply his trade on Merseyside.

Strootman is a great midfielder. He’d do well in EPL— Dijkinho (@Dijkinho) January 8, 2018
Can see Strootman being a summer signing if true. Would be a replacement for Can rather than Coutinho. #LFC— Toby Forster (@thelegendtoby) January 8, 2018

A fit Strootman would be a really interesting proposition— LFC Street (@_Est_1980_) January 8, 2018
Strootman's profile was certainly a lot higher a few years ago following repeated links to Manchester United, and his injury history will make some fans worry somewhat.
Nevertheless, he remains a very fine player fitness permitting and manager Jurgen Klopp could do a lot worse in terms of Can replacements.
