Premier League side Brighton have made a £3million bid for Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis, according to the Sun, but would a move to Celtic bring the best out of the teenage attacker?
The report claims Brighton have been tracking the Villa youngster over the last few months and it now appears that Hughton is readying a £3million bid to land the youngster currently shining in Steve Bruce's side.
Davis, 19, scored his third goal for Villa on Saturday afternoon, as the Midlands giants dismally crashed out of the third round of the FA Cup as Peterborough won 3-1 and with Brighton progressing, that would make him cup tied.
With Brighton boasting a number of strikers such as Glenn Murray, Jose Izquierdo, Tomer Hemed and Sam Baldock, Davis would find game time hard to come by and it could stunt his development.
It should alert Brendan Rodgers' Celtic into matching Brighton's move, as they have a proven track record of taking Championship players into their squad and significantly improving them.
Scott Sinclair has shone since his move from Villa to Celtic and Davis could repeat such a transfer. But the youngster would take more inspiration from Moussa Dembele's example, as the Frenchman continues to become one of the world's best wonderkids.
Joining Celtic in the summer of 2016 from Fulham, Dembele has amassed a huge 40 goals in 70 games as well as adding 12 assists after joining the club at a similar stage to what Davis is right now.
It could be a move that would suit all parties, then, especially with Leigh Griffiths future continuing to be clouded and Dembele constantly being linked with a move to the Premier League, including Brighton themselves.
