Southampton defender Matt Targett is set to join Fulham on loan in January.

According to reports from the Sun, Southampton full-back Matt Targett is set to seal a loan move to Fulham in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old left-back has made two Premier League appearances for Southampton this season, clocking 167 minutes of action.

He suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season, and made his first appearance over Christmas.

The report claims that the Southampton left-back is on the verge of agreeing a deal to play for Fulham until the end of the season.

Mauricio Pellegrino has Ryan Bertrand as his first choice left-back, and has Sam McQueen as his cover. The club feel it will be ideal for Targett to go out on loan to get regular games.

Fulham boss Slavia Jokanovic has the exciting young full-back Ryan Sessegnon as his first choice, but he is still looking for cover at full-back role.

The Cottagers boss is hoping to bring Targett to Craven Cottage in January. He hopes that his experiences in the Premier League can boost their play-off hopes in the second half of the season.
