Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told the club's official website that he felt Victor Wanyama 'played well' against Swansea City on Tuesday night.

Spurs travelled to South Wales after a week off, having beaten Southampton 5-2 on Boxing Day – and Pochettino's men made it three Premier League wins in a row on Tuesday.

Fernando Llorente – handed a start in place of the unwell Harry Kane – returned to haunt his former club with the opening goal, heading home Christian Eriksen's early free kick for the opener.

Swansea came close on a couple of occasions in the second half, but substitute Kane then set up Dele Alli for a second late on, handing Tottenham a 2-0 win.

Pochettino will have been pleased to come through a rain-drenched game with all three points, and with the fact that midfielder Victor Wanyama made his return to action.

Wanyama, 26, missed more than four months of action with a knee injury, but came on as a second half substitute against Swansea, coming on for Davinson Sanchez with half an hour to play.

The Kenyan star has been missed during his absence, and Spurs will now hope that the worst of his injury hell is over and he can start to play regularly once again.

After the final whistle, Pochettino told the club's official website that he is pleased to see Wanyama make his return, claiming that he 'played well' at the Liberty Stadium after so long out.

“I'm so pleased for Victor as well. He played well,” said Pochettino. “He's had a lot of months out and I'm happy to see him back again,” he added.
