Lewis Morgan produced a sensational performance for St Mirren last night to inspire a 2-0 win over Dundee United.

It was a performance which demonstrated why Scottish champions Celtic are determined to land his signature, as has been strongly rumoured.

BBC Sport this week reported Morgan is expected to sign terms with Celtic, before being loaned back to St Mirren before the end of the season.

Morgan, a former Rangers youth prospect, has made a name for himself for St Mirren and his display last night was another feather in his cap.

He scored two superb individual goals to take his tally for the season to 12, with this the best campaign of his career to date.

Morgan's display showed what a big loss he will be to St Mirren next campaign, after helping them extend their lead at the top of the table to a five point gap.

The 21-year-old is full of confidence and has a real chance of reaching 20 goals by the end of the season.
