Virgil Van Dijk's future was finally settled after he joined Liverpool for £75m from Southampton on Wednesday afternoon.
The deal will officially go through on January first but after six months of speculation, the Dutchman has finally got the move to Anfield he wanted. It's left a void in the Southampton defence but they now have £75m to play with to try and find a replacement.
Here are three players the south coast club should consider:
Alfie Mawson will be highly sought after when the transfer window re-opens. The Swansea City defender has already been linked with a £25m move to West Ham according to Daily Mail but Saints now have the necessary funds to hijack the deal.

The 23-year-old is a good long term option for Southampton and is someone who can come in and hit the ground running given he's used to Premier League football. Mawson has been one of the few positives in a poor campaign for Swansea. He's also scored six times in 50 matches for the Welsh club so he's strong in both boxes.
With Liverpool bulking up their defensive options, they may be happy to let Dejan Lovren go the other way. Lovren was at St Mary's during the 2013-14 season, arguably his best in English football which prompted a £20m move to Anfield that summer.

Lovren has been heavily criticised this season, his lowest moment coming against Tottenham back in October when he was subbed off after 31 minutes. Liverpool now have Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan which could aid Southampton if they are to pursue their former player.

The 24-year-old was Middlesbrough's best player in a disappointing Premier League campaign last season where his performances earned him a call up to England's senior squad in March. He often skippers Boro and has the leadership qualities Van Dijk possesses as well as being comfortable playing out from the back.
