Now the Yorkshire Evening Post claims that the Morocco international is also on Leeds’ radar ahead of the January transfer window opening.

And any potential suitor for Mahi will have been given a boost by his latest comments about leaving his current club.

“I need a new step, a new environment. I’m certainly open to a transfer,” the 23-year-old told Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

Mahi has impressed for Groningen since joining from boyhood club Sparta Rotterdam in the summer of 2014, scoring 30 goals in 100 appearances in all competitions.

The Whites are looking for new options in attack with several different players used there so far this season by head coach Thomas Christiansen.
