Newcastle United were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City last night at St. James' Park.
Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons has come under criticism, after his performance against Manchester City last night.
Aarons was surprisingly given his first Premier League start of the campaign against Pep Guardiola’s men, but he failed to take his chance.
The 21-year-old was unable to influence the game in an attacking sense, with Newcastle fans feeling that he has now become overrated.
Aarons is the most overrated player since kieron dyer must of both been pulling the same caravan however at 21 dyer was in a different league #overrated NUFC— Adam Waites (@Aw8see) December 28, 2017
Sad to say because I've always hoped he would come good but have to say that could have been Aarons last chance to impress for #nufc tonight and I think the only way he could have grasped it less would have been by not turning up. Him and Murphy look out of their depth massively.— Toon Stew (@toonarmyblog) December 27, 2017
Some #nufc fans owe myself an apology. For those fans asking why Aarons does not start,I hope you now realise.Kid should be sold.Awful attitude.— Black cloud (@Blackcloud1603) December 27, 2017
You could tell he hadn’t played a game in a year...— Toby (@MenziesToby) December 27, 2017
Pace has long gone, sadly will just be another player that could have been.— Lea Colwell (@Colwell7) December 27, 2017
I noticed that tonight. Was shocked at how slow he was. One chance down the right late on where he was clean through and defender ran across the pitch and beat him to the ball. Shame for the lad as he showed so much promise.— Andrew Carruthers (@Andy_Carruthers) December 27, 2017
Either not fit enough or not enough desire, his work rate off the ball wasn’t good enough— Andy Pennock (@andypennock) December 27, 2017
Offered nothing and backed away from every 50/50 don’t see what he offers the team.— Lakey (@Mag73toon) December 27, 2017
There has been suggestions that Aarons could move on from Newcastle in the January transfer window.
The wide-man has really struggled to break into Rafael Benitez’s starting line-up, and could now face another spell on the bench, after failing to catch the eye.
Newcastle were undone last night through a goal from Raheem Sterling. The England international latched on to a brilliant pass from Kevin de Bruyne, before slotting a shot under Rob Elliott.
Newcastle have now won just one of their last 10 Premier League matches, and sit just one point above the drop zone.
