Almost lost amid the announcement on manager Graeme Murty's future was Rangers clinching the signing of Declan John on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old left behind a Cardiff City side where he had lost his place to Joe Bennett, and was not in Neil Warnock's first team plans.
It was a big step for John as he came through the Cardiff academy, making his debut as a teenager five years ago back in 2012.
During his stint with the Bluebirds, Declan John played in the Premier League and earned international call-ups for Wales.
Successive changes in management made it more difficult for the youngster to hold down a place in the team, and Rangers was his third loan away from Cardiff.
He is evidently a player who new permanent boss Graeme Murty admires, and he has made 14 appearances for the Gers so far this season.
Cardiff fans are split on the move, and took to Twitter in response to his sale...

Such a shame to see a Welsh lad who's come trough the youth set-up go. Really rated the lad, hope Warnock hasn't made a mistake here, but I trust him a lot! Good luck Declan, wishing you a good career mate!— Turtle Combover (@TurtleCombover) December 22, 2017
