Huddersfield Town and Championship promotion hopefuls Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bristol City are tracking Holstein Kiel star Dominick Drexler, HITC Sport understands.

The likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa and Cardiff City have been credited with an interest in Drexler following his exploits for Kiel this season, but now several other clubs have been alerted to the attacking midfielder.

Drexler has scored ten goals in 20 games for Kiel this season, setting up a further six goals to help them to second spot in Bundesliga 2.

Unsurprisingly Drexler’s rich-vein of form has brought him to the attention of a number of clubs across Europe.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner is well aware of Drexler and the Premier League club have enjoyed great success in signing players from Germany’s lower leagues since Wagner took charge at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Wagner utilised his extensive knowledge of Germany’s lower leagues to sign the likes of Christopher Schindler, Michael Hefele, Elias Kachunga, Chris Lowe and Collin Quaner who all played their part in helping the club win promotion to the Premier League.

Championship leaders Wolves are also keeping tabs on Drexler as they look to add to their attacking options in order to maintain their promotion charge, while fellow promotion hopefuls Bristol City are also looking to strengthen in January and they have enjoyed success in the past when buying players from abroad.

Drexler joined Kiel from VfR Aachen on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 and he still has two-and-a-half years left on his current deal.

However, Kiel are aware of the growing interest in Drexler and are keen to offer him a new deal to fend off the interest from the English clubs as they brace themselves for offers in January.
