Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy has told Burton Albion's official website that his future remains in the hands of his parent club as he remains on loan with the Brewers - but Elland Road supporters do not want him back.

The 28-year-old was loaned to Nigel Clough's side during the second half of the 2016-17 season before rejoining the relegation-threatened Championship side for the entire 2017-18 season on loan.

He remains a Leeds player and has a contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2019, after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Whites in the summer of 2015 after first joining the club from Crewe in July 2013 under Brian McDermott.

Central midfielder Murphy claimed it is "completely out of my hands" over his Leeds future, with Thomas Christiansen's side boasting the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O'Kane in the middle of the park.

However, Murphy has been one of Burton's most consistent performers this season, missing just one Championship match and wearing the captain's armband on two occasions against Brentford and Sunderland.

Leeds fans took to Twitter to react to Murphy's comments, with one fan describing Murphy as a "headless chicken" while the majority claim they completely forgot who the Murphy even is.
