Rangers striker Ryan Hardie could leave Ibrox in 2018.

Ryan Hardie of St Mirren misses a fine chance during the match beTFRED Cup Group Stage match between St Mirren and Edinburgh City at St Mirren Park on July 30, 2016 in Paisley, Scotland.

According to The Scottish Sun, Queens Park Rangers are interested in snapping up Rangers striker Ryan Hardie in 2018, with his contract running down.

Hardie, 20, has come up through the ranks with Rangers, emerging as a first-team player under Stuart McCall in 2015, scoring two goals in five league games.

The striker has since had two loan spells with Raith Rovers, hitting 14 goals in 34 games across his two stints with the club, whilst he also hit three goals in 17 games on loan at St Mirren last season.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Hardie has returned to Ibrox this season, but has yet to start a single game, and has been limited to just six substitute appearances so far this term.

Now, it’s claimed that QPR are looking to land Hardie for their Under-23 side, given that his Rangers contract expires at the end of the season, meaning a bargain January move could be possible.

Earning a Championship move when he can’t get playing time with Rangers would be strange, and Gers fans have taken to Twitter to offer their thoughts on the situation.

Many believe that Rangers would be making a huge mistake if they allow Hardie to leave the club, urging the club to avoid making a ‘horrendous decision’, with some fans wanting him to play instead of Kenny Miller.

Others simply believe that Hardie isn’t quite good enough for Rangers, as shown by Graeme Murty’s reluctance to use him in the first team, with one fan comparing him to Stephen Dobbie, another Rangers youth product.
