Celtic and Rangers have both been credited with interest in the 19-year-old.

Celtic and Rangers linked midfielder Riley McGree will not be bound for Parkhead or Ibrox this winter.
Celtic were credited with interest in McGree at the start of this year, by the Australian’s old boss Albert Kidd [Scottish Sun].
And reports in November – which emerged, somewhat suspiciously, a day after this HITC Sport opinion piece was published – suggested that Rangers, too, were keen on McGree [Daily Record].
Whether there was any truth to the speculation is by the bye, however, after the 19-year-old returned to his homeland on Tuesday.
Formerly of Adelaide United, McGree will spend the remainder of the A-League season – ending in May – on loan to Newcastle Jets from Belgian giants Club Brugge.
McGree has never made a competitive appearance outside of his homeland – for whom he has played at under-23 level – and is perhaps not of the standard required to make an impact at either Celtic or Rangers.

However, that is not to say the pair will not continue [or even begin] to monitor the player’s progress, in view of a transfer to Glasgow later down the line.
