Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on their side's performance in their heavy defeat to Manchester City on Saturday - and unsurprisingly, there was a huge amount of criticism for a number of Mauricio Pochettino's side.
Spurs were the latest side tasked with trying to end Manchester City's incredible run of form that had seen Pep Guardiola's men go unbeaten in domestic competition all season and open up an 11 point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Unfortunately, some lacklustre defending from the visitors allowed City to break the deadlock inside the first 14 minutes. And while it would not be until the 70th minute that the home side would double their lead, Tottenham rarely threatened to get back into the game.
The second-half saw City score three times before Christian Eriksen struck Tottenham's only goal in stoppage-time - and in all honestly, it should have been a lot more comfortable for the Cityzens.
Leroy Sane of Manchester City is challenged by Kieran Trippier of Tottenham Hotspur
A number of players were slated by Spurs fans on social media, and one of the men who was heavily criticised by the supporters was Kieran Trippier - who endured a torrid evening at right-back.
Leroy Sane ensured the Englishman had a terrible time, and a number of supporters have urged Pochettino to consider not using Trippier in the bigger games, while others believe that he should not even get the chance to wear the Spurs shirt again.
Here is the best of the reaction...
Said from day one, Trippier is not good enough to be our first choice right-back. Against smaller teams he’s okay, but today showed he’s not good enough! #THFC— Harry Hotspur (@HarryHotspurWHL) December 16, 2017
Trippier should retire after that— Hamid (@HamidTHFC) December 16, 2017
Central midfield woeful. Winks not up to it, yet. Trippier terrible. Should sell Dele (and drop him in short term). Lloris can't kick. Need Toby back. Need me in midfield.— SpursManDan (@SpursManDan) December 16, 2017
Trippier massively exposed, out paced by Sane constantly. Those Spurs fans saying we wouldn’t miss walker were wrong.— Garry Mackin (@GJMACCA) December 16, 2017
Must also be said that Poch must have take partial blame. Trippier should've never started, Dembele/Winks pivot was hopeless, no subs til the game was essentially over. Rough day. #THFC— Modern Footy (@ModernFooty) December 16, 2017
Remember when some Spurs fans genuinely tweeted Trippier > Walker. Let that sink in.— Brendan Mulvaney (@MulvaneyBrendan) December 16, 2017
You can't say there was a lack of fight or passion. Yes we were really poor, Trippier was embarassing, Dembele is done and we massively need Wanyama back, and Poch took too long to change thing.— Kieran Kirschner (@kkirschy23) December 16, 2017
But City really are unbelievable #COYS
Trippier went full Trippier...— DrSpur (@SpursDr) December 16, 2017
Never go full Trippier.
Trippier is the worst fullback I've watched in a Spurs kit. Gets beaten on the outside and inside. Can't defend, no pace. But some weirdos see him cross a nice ball and he's better than Walker. And yes, I'm including players like Stalteri and Chimbonda. Awful player.— Josh Fitter (@JoshFitter95) December 16, 2017
