Pundit backtracks on previous comments, and believes Claude Puel simply has better players to work with at Leicester than Southampton.

Back in October when Leicester City appointed Claude Puel, pundit Paul Merson was quick to write him off.
Merson hit out at the move, blasting in his SkySports column: “I nearly fell over when I found out Claude Puel was appointed at Leicester. Not for me.”

Former Southampton boss Puel has quickly set about proving his doubters wrong, and led Leicester to a 4-1 win away to his former team this week.
The Foxes sit in eighth position, just five points back from the top four.
Merson has now admitted he was too hasty to criticise Leicester’s decision to appoint Puel, and feels Puel has learned his lesson from his year at Southampton.

He told SkySports: “When he was appointed I wasn’t the greatest fan of Claude Puel coming in, but what I like is, it looks like he has learnt his lesson from Southampton, where it didn’t go that well.
“He probably looked at it and thought it’s horses for courses. He has players who can be more expansive and attack more than at Southampton, so he is having more of a go, and fair play to him.”
Merson is tipping Leicester to continue their recent good run this weekend, and predicts a 2-1 victory at home to Crystal Palace this weekend.
