Leeds United addressed a lingering issue from 2016 at Loftus Road, according to their hat-trick hero from Saturday.

Kemar Roofe has revealed to LUTV that Leeds United drew inspiration from their opening-day horror show at QPR last season and used the 'embarrassment' as motivation to win at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Thomas Christiansen's side moved within four points of the top six with a rousing 3-1 win at QPR as the Whites made amends for what happened in West London last year.

Under Garry Monk, Leeds got their 2016-17 campaign off to a horrendous start by losing 3-0 to Rangers in August 2016, but a hat-trick from Roofe, one of only three players who played in both games, ensured that the West Yorkshire outfit got their own back in the capital.

And speaking to LUTV, the former Oxford United markman revealed that what happened last year was among the pre-match discussions.

He said: "Yeah it's massive [three points]. We said before the game that our first game last season was here and they just embarrassed us, and it hurt us, so we just put a little bit extra into this one."

It was United's third win in their last five Championship games and it seems like Christiansen's side have turned a corner again after losing five in six from late September to early November.

Leeds now have a couple of home games against Norwich City and Hull City before Christmas, and back-to-back wins there would set them up brilliantly for a solid second half to the season.
