Rangers’ pursuit of Derek McInnes seems to be over. The Gers wanted to appoint the Aberdeen boss as their new manager, but the Dons have released a statement claiming that the former Rangers midfielder will remain at the Pittodrie Stadium.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Rangers failing to secure the services of McInnes, and so has ex-Motherwell defender Stephen Craigan, both of whom now work as pundits for BT Sport.
.@btsportfootball McInnes to stay at Aberdeen... Great news for Aberdeen! Another shambolic situation at Rangers??? Your thoughts??— Chris Sutton (@chris_sutton73) December 7, 2017
So when does the next attempt to get Derek McInnes to Rangers start round 3@btsportfootball tomorrow at 6.45 for Scottish Football Extra and @dundeefconline v @AberdeenFC for all the news and reaction. #eggonface— Stephen Craigan (@stephencraigan) December 7, 2017
Rangers will now have to look elsewhere for a new manager, having dismissed Pedro Caixinha back in October and still searching for a permanent successor.
Graeme Murty is in charge of Rangers at the moment, and he is doing a good job with the first team.
Perhaps the Gers should hand Murty the first-team managerial job until the end of the season…
