The Tottenham Hotspur youngster had to make do with youth football again this week.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Marcus Edwards has generated plenty of headlines despite featuring for only 15 minutes in the senior side to date.
That brief cameo against Gillingham in the EFL Cup last season is the only chance Tottenham fans have had to see the now-18-year-old in first-team action, and it seems Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is in no rush to add to that tally.
For now Edwards has to make do with under-23 and under-19 football, with his performances in the UEFA Youth League helping Tottenham's next generation reach the next stage in impressive fashion.
While the likes of Kazaiah Sterling and Luke Amos were given a place in the match day squad for Tottenham's Champions League group game against APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday, Edwards had to make do with a youth game against the same opponents, and he did not let that disappointment affect his performance.
The midfielder scored one and set up another in a 4-1 victory against the Cypriot side and, while he failed to convert from the penalty spot, it was another satisfying game for the teenager.
Edwards now has four goals and three assists in six Youth League games this season and that is the perfect response to being continually overlooked.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Tottenham fans thought of Edwards' latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:

Bright start from Marcus Edwards. He's got his head down and he's working hard. Perfect response so far to not getting in the first team squad for tonight's match. https://t.co/Ixt2YGrBd6— Alasdair Gold (@AlasdairGold) December 6, 2017

I see Marcus Edwards has scored today. Without reading the replies, you can lay money on someone tweeting @SpursOfficial “Why ain’t Poch playing him FFS!”— Adam (@7AJR7) December 6, 2017
