Newcastle United could be about to be left frustrated in the transfer market once again as the Daily Mail report Everton are keen on signing Chelsea's Abdul Baba Rahman on loan in January.

The Mirror reported earlier this year that the Magpies were keen on bringing Rahman to St James' Park having been recommended to manager Rafa Benitez by fellow Ghana international Christian Atsu.

The move never materialised, however, with it believed that Blues boss Antonio Conte was set to give the left-back another chance at Stamford Bridge having failed to impress since a 2015 switch from Augsburg for a fee that could eventually reach £22m.

Yet Rahman has failed to play once this season and has just 23 appearances in total for the West Londoners, which is why the Toffees could realistically land the 23-year-old.

The Merseyside outfit could face competition from Fenerbahce, Fiorentina and Monaco, though, as they look to find competition for Leighton Baines on the left side of defence.

However, for Newcastle - who also have their own issues at left-back - it seems as if the chance of landing Rahman themselves have now all but gone.
