Moussa Dembele of Celtic tries to reach a cross during the UEFA Champions League group B match against RSC Anderlecht.
Brighton and Hove Albion have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, with the Daily Mail reporting the newly promoted Premier League side are preparing a £20m bid in January.
The Bhoys currently value Dembele at closer to £30m, but Brighton are hoping to test their resolve with this opening bid - one which would smash their transfer record of £13.5m paid for Jose Izquierdo over the summer.

The Scottish champions have no need to sell, however, and it could be down to whether the player himself - who has scored eight goals in 16 appearances in all competitions this season - is tempted by the move.
Yet if the Seagulls were to land Dembele it would be one of the most surprising deals of the year and certainly a huge coup for the club when it is considered, as reported by the Sun, that both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in the 21-year-old recently.

The forward is one of the most exciting young prospects in European football after being signed from Fulham in the summer of 2016 for just £400,000.
Since then Dembele has scored 40 times in 65 games for the Hoops, helping them to the treble of Scottish Premiership, Cup and League Cup last term, and also earned his first France Under-21s cap and now has seven goals in ten international matches at that level.
