Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Manchester United left-back.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw returned to first team action in the team's 2-1 Champions League win over Spartak Moscow.

The club's 2014 £27 million signing from Southampton has had a tough time at Old Trafford and so far failed to convince manager Jose Mourinho he is worthy of a regular place.

Mourinho gave him an opportunity last night, and Shaw acquitted himself well.

He got forward and joined the attack early, almost laying on an assist in the first half.

Spartak's opener came from pressure down his side of the pitch although he was not individually culpable of a major error for the Russians taking the lead.

Shaw's promising display keeps open the possibility of him staying at the club, but it is also likely to encourage interested clubs from making a January move.

Tottenham have been regularly linked, as part of a swap deal for Danny Rose.

Shaw worked under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, and told SkySports earlier this year he hoped to play under him again.

Here is a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to Shaw's performance...
