Everton fans seem satisified with the prospect of signing West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans in January.

The Mirror reported this week that new Everton boss Sam Allardyce is keen on bringing the Northern Ireland centre-back to Goodison Park when the transfer window re-opens next month.

The former Man United star was heavily linked with Arsenal in the summer but wound up staying at West Brom.

No contract extension has been signed despite speculation that one was offered and Evans remains contracted to Albion until 2019.

Everton's defence has been a source of many problems this season in spite of signing Michael Keane - not a regular starter at the moment - for £30 million in the summer and Evans would indeed represent a solid, experienced option for the Toffees in January.

West Bromwich Albion Football Club player Jonny Evans attends a press conference in Hong Kong on July 18, 2017, ahead of the 2017 Premier League Asia Trophy being played on July 19 and 22.

And fans of the Goodison Park club don't seem adverse to the idea of signing him.

The 29-year-old is very highly rated at West Brom and the club rejected late £25 million bids from Arsenal and Manchester City last summer, according to The Telegraph.

Everton shouldn't be looking at that figure this time around, though. He will only have 18 months left to go on his existing contract and failing to sign a new one means that his value will gradually decrease.

Transfermarkt claim that he is worth £15 million.
