Flynn says he messaged Leeds United’s Victor Orta after FA Cup draw

Leeds United and Newport County will face each other in the FA Cup this season.

Newport County manager Mike Flynn has revealed to South Wales Argus that he has had a conversation with Leeds United director of football Victor Orta.

Flynn has disclosed that he has exchanged text messages with Orta following the FA Cup draw.

League Two club County will face Championship outfit Leeds at Rodney Parade in the third round of the FA Cup this season.

The two sides locked horns with each other earlier this season - in the second round of the EFL Cup at Elland Road back in August.

County took the lead on 33 minutes, but Leeds then staged a successful comeback and won the tie 5-1.

Flynn told South Wales Argus: “I’ve just messaged the director of football at Leeds and he’s said some very complimentary things.

“They were very impressed with the way we went about things up at Leeds and they’re looking forward to coming to us.”

County are ninth in the League Two table at the moment with 30 points from 20 matches, just two points behind seventh-placed Mansfield Town, who currently occupy the final playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Leeds currently find themselves eighth in the Championship table with 30 points from 20 matches, five points behind sixth-placed Derby County, who currently occupy the final playoff spot.
