Newcastle United should make a concrete offer for Danny Ings in the January transfer window.
The Magpies boss, Rafa Benitez, wants to add firepower to his Newcastle squad, and the Spaniard wants to sign a striker.
With Aleksandar Mitrovic facing an uncertain future, Joselu has been misfiring, the need for a proven goalscorer has become top priority for Benitez.
Benitez wanted to sign Lucas Perez and Stevan Jovetic but couldn’t afford either of them. And there is no guarantee that he will be provided sufficient funds to bring in good players in January.
That is why Benitez should make a serious attempt to sign Ings on loan from Liverpool. The 25 has played only 17 minutes for the Reds senior team this season, as he was out for a lengthy spell with a knee injury.
However, he has returned to full fitness and scored twice for the Reds’ Under23 side against Stoke City on Sunday, and in the process took his goal tally to seven.
Jurgen Klopp has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal and he would happily allow Ings to move on in search of regular first team opportunities.
The former Burnley player is a natural goalscorer, and would add quality and depth to the Newcastle side.
