West Brom fans have been heaping praise on Ahmed Hegazi on Twitter after the defender put in yet another impressive display to help the Baggies keep a clean sheet in their clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

There was definitely a sense of anticipation going into the clash at The Hawthorns with the contest being the first of the Alan Pardew era following his appointment as Tony Pulis' successor earlier in the week.

While the result was not exactly what the supporters would have wanted, as the two sides played out a goalless draw, there was some reason for encouragement for West Brom, with a number of players impressing.

One of the players who impressed the most was Hegazi. Although Palace will feel he should have given away a penalty, the Egyptian generally was outstanding defensively, seemingly winning everything that was there to be won.

The performance should provide the latest piece of evidence as to why Pardew cannot allow the centre-back to not be signed permanently. ESPN recently reported that Hegazi - who is on loan for the season with the Baggies - is attracting attention from some of their Premier League rivals, but West Brom also have agreed a clause as part of the loan deal that will allow them to make the transfer permanent.

And there is surely no doubt after his latest display that Pardew should be looking to prioritise a deal for Hegazi in January as it could prove to be a brilliant piece of business.

Here is the best of the reaction...
