Liam Henderson is way down the pecking order at Celtic.
Celtic youngster Liam Henderson has sent a message to Brendan Rodgers with a wonder strike for the club's development side - and fans have discussed his future at the club on Twitter.
The 21-year-old picked the ball up around 40 yards from goal before curling an effort that flew past St. Johnstone's goalkeeper into the top corner with the help of the post, in a 3-1 win for the Hoops' academy side.
His goal was the third of Celtic's win, after younger brother Ewan had scored an impressive goal of his own in the first half that was almost identical to Liam's effort - albeit closer to the St. Johnstone goal.
The former Rosenborg and Hibernian loanee has just a matter of months remaining on his contract at Lennoxtown, and has played just 23 minutes of senior football this season as a substitute in a league game against Dundee in October.
He remains behind the likes of Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic and Patrick Roberts in the Celtic pecking order, with his future beyond the 2017-18 season in huge doubt.
Celtic fans reacted to his excellent strike on Twitter, with some stating that he deserves more first-team football while others believe his future lies away from Rodgers' side.
Big fan of Liam Henderson. Would really like to see him used more in the first team and if he isn't going to get used then let him leave and develop into a great player. Might cost us a few Bob to buy him again in a couple of years though— Keith Robertson (@Krobertson5808) November 30, 2017
Totally agree. Could see him moving to Hibs or a lower championship side/ upper league 1 side with a buy back clause.— Adam (@LionRampant95) December 1, 2017
Great strikes and I really like Liam Henderson as a player but I think for the good of his career he needs to move on and play first time football in January. He’s went from Scottish cup winner to development squad player in 2 years.— Tam Douglas (@tamdouglas) November 30, 2017
It would be a good move for him if he went back to hibs. He has a great vision for passing but is he really going to get into the Celtic team...probably not— Tam Douglas (@tamdouglas) November 30, 2017
Desperate for Liam to get a run in the team. Gifted with the ball. Some of his passing— Neil McInnes (@neilymadrid) November 30, 2017
Liam Henderson is a great player. Definitely deserves to be playing at a higher level than development squad even if it means leaving in January— Ryan Gardner (@gardnerr1989) November 30, 2017
Liam Henderson is too good a player to be rotting away in the development league. If we're not going to play him I hope he finds a new club to kickstart his career.— Darbo (@DazMcQ) November 30, 2017
