Commentator Ian Darke has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of Everton’s match against West Ham, that Seamus Coleman is anticipating coming back sooner rather than later.

Coleman has been badly missed by Everton so far this season, after the Republic of Ireland international broke his leg back in March.

Coleman has not featured at all this season, but the right-back is edging closer to making a comeback.

And Darke says that Coleman has told him that he hopes to be available again before the year ends.

“I had a chat with him before the game. He said weeks rather than months now,” Darke revealed. “He hopes to come back some time around Christmas.”

Coleman’s return to fitness will be a huge boost for Everton, as the right-back is one of the finest full-backs in the Premier League.

Everton have played youngster Jonjoe Kenny in the role during Coleman’s time on the sidelines, and although he has coped well, he has not offered the same quality as his more experienced teammate.

Everton are also set to welcome back Ross Barkley and Yannick Bolasie to fitness soon, with their injury situation looking much brighter now.

Everton are currently in 13th place in the Premier League table, but there are hopes that they will climb up the standings with Sam Allardyce in charge.
