Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke proved fruitless in front of goal on Tuesday night as he failed to fire Roy Hodgson's side towards three points against newly-promoted Brighton - and fans have reacted to his performance on Twitter.
The 26-year-old remained on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes at the Amex Stadium, but he failed to finally end his goal drought that has yet to see him score in the 2017-18 season.
The Belgium international was given little chance to break his duck, though, as the Eagles secured what could be an important point away from home at high-flying Brighton.
It sees the former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker move on to nine games without a goal this season, which could begin to even endanger his place in the Belgium squad for the 2018 World Cup - with the likes of Divock Origi, Romelu Lukaku and Michy Batshuayi in form.
Palace fans took to Twitter to express their frustration at Benteke's lack of goals, as the Eagles remain at the foot of the Premier League table on nine points from 14 domestic outings.
Observations from tonight's game#CPFC v #BHA— P Johnson (@movermanPJ) November 28, 2017
Wilf has to be played wide
RLC has to be played down the middle
Mac should start in front of Cabaye
Benteke has to be more mobile and robust when his back's to goal
Henners must not let 5ft 5ins players trample all over him at corners
Don’t think I know a player who is as bad as shooting than Benteke https://t.co/Sqec71krtp— Alex (@Gr4ham6) November 28, 2017
Respect the point. Even match. Palace playing too narrow in attack for me. Benteke is WAY off the pace, looks lost. Needs a cheap goal & then he'll crack on. Thrilled with clean sheet, we're stopping the rot at the back. Now lets go & get all 3 points on the weekend! #CPFC #COYP— Tim Bamford (@timbamford73) November 29, 2017
Yeah definitely. he has been solid lately but only seems to get negative reviews, bit like Hennessey too at times. Yeah I hope so. I can see him being sold soon (Benteke) and tbf if we had other attacking options, I wouldn't mind too much— Ashley Hammond (@ashleyhammond) November 28, 2017
Benteke lazy tonight— Stu #parishout (@stuartAchalmers) November 28, 2017
I agree with you on Cabaye and Ward but Zaha did all he could. He needs more help. Benteke has NO aggression at all.— Randy (@RandyBoose) November 28, 2017
Benteke continues to frustrate, a dreadful first touch and next to no movement in the box. Refuses to play like the traditional centre forward he's built like. #CPFC— Wilson (@theunusedsub) November 28, 2017
