Leeds United returned to winning ways at the weekend, as they got the better of Barnsley 2-0 away from home at Oakwell in the Championship.

The Whites headed into the match last Saturday afternoon on the back of a 4-1 away defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league.

Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski scored the goals for Leeds in the first half, as they picked up all three points from the encounter with relative ease.

Former Wolves defensive midfielder Keith Andrews was following the match for Sky Sports, and he was impressed with the performance of 22-year-old Ghanian striker Caleb Ekuban.

Ekuban, who joined Leeds from Chievo in the summer transfer window, started the match and played for 80 minutes.

Andrews said about Ekuban on Sky Sports Football last Saturday afternoon (2:41pm, November 25, 2017) during the post-match coverage of the Championship game between Barnsley and Leeds: “Going back to the first 15, 20 minutes, what I thought he did bring was physically, pace.

“He tried to occupy certainly the two centre-halves MacDonald and Lindsay. He is still only 22 years of age, he scored got a lot of goals last year, but it was in the Albanian league. I thought he provided more than Lasogga does on a consistent basis. I think he deserves a crack.”

Ekuban has made four appearances in the Championship for Leeds so far this season, and but has not scored or provided an assist.

The win against Barnsley means that Leeds are back on track for a top-six finish in the Championship this campaign.
