Highly-rated Hull City goalkeeper Will Mannion is poised to join League One Plymouth Argyle on an emergency loan deal.

Plymouth are looking for a goalkeeper to resolve their injury crisis between the sticks with loan signing Remi Matthews forced to return to parent club Norwich after picking up an injury.

Plymouth have endured a nightmare with the goalkeeping position this season and Mannion will become the sixth goalkeeper to play for them already this season when he makes his debut.

Mannion has yet to make his first-team debut for Hull, but the club have high hopes for the athletic shot-stopper after signing him from AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2016 with the Tigers being ordered to pay £425,000 in compensation to AFC Wmbledon for Mannion after a tribunal.

The 19-year-old has been a regular for Hull's Under-23s and he has also represented England at Under-19 level.

Hull are happy to loan out Mannion as he is well down the pecking order in the first-team at the KCOM Stadium.

Mannion has yet to play any senior first-team football in his career and Hull feel the teenager will benefit by going out on loan to Plymouth for a short period.

The England youth international could go straight into the Plymouth squad for Tuesday's EFL Checkatrade Trophy clash with Yeovil.
