Manchester United want Carlos Soler, but should not expect him to have the same sort of impact as Liverpool's new boy.

Valencia attacker Carlos Soler has emerged as a top option for Manchester United, with The Independent reporting they are keen on the winger.

Valued at £40 million, Soler could be a shrewd option for the Red Devils, but expectations should not be too high.

Soler is just 20-years-old, and could be an excellent first team player for United for years to come.

But when it comes to making an immediate impact, Soler might not have the same sort of impact that Liverpool sensation Mohamed Salah has.

Salah has hit the ground running at Liverpool, netting 10 goals in 13 Premier League games this season, and a further four in the Champions League.

This follows 15 strikes last season for Roma, and he is looking like a bargain at £36 million.

For a similar fee United fans would be forgiven for hoping for a similar output from Soler, but it won't happen right away, if at all.

Soler is less of a goalscorer and more of a creator, and is five years younger than the Egyptian, who already had one spell in England previously under his belt.

This season Soler has netted just one goal, with four assists compared to Salah's two.

He may be just what United need to get Romelu Lukaku back on track, but there is unlikely to be a big goal return from the young Spaniard himself if he arrives mid-season.
