Joey Barton responds when asked if Leeds United will make the play offs this season

Leeds United are currently in eighth place in the Championship table.

Joey Barton has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 27th November, that he was impressed by Leeds United against Barnsley.

Leeds’ last match was broadcast on Sky, and Thomas Christiansen’s side’s display at Oakwell caught Barton’s eye.

Leeds won 2-0 against the Tykes, and they looked a class above their Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds are now in eighth place in the Championship table, with Christiansen’s side lurking just outside the play off places.

And when asked whether he felt Leeds could break into the top six, Barton said: “I thought they were good against Barnsley, I watched the game. But there’s some big teams in the Championship now.”

Leeds were the early front runners in the Championship this season, but a poor run of form has seen them slip down the table.

Leeds have won two of their last three matches to arrest their alarming slide, though, with optimism flooding back to the Yorkshire club.

The Whites are next in action on Friday evening, when they take on fellow promotion hopefuls Aston Villa.
