Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting on Twitter after watching Ben Osborn's performance in Mark Warburton's side's defeat to Cardiff City on Sunday, and while some were defending the midfielder, the majority of the reaction seemed to be very negative.
Forest have enjoyed or endured a quite extraordinary start to the Championship season, winning nine and losing 10 of their opening 19 games in the league.
Their 10th defeat came in their clash with the Bluebirds at the City Ground on Sunday, with Neil Warnock's men scoring twice in the first-half in a game where Forest dominated possession.
Unfortunately for Warburton, his side failed to properly test the high-flyers, and Osborn was one of a number of players who failed to really make a positive impression on the game.
Several of the supporters took to social media to criticise the 23-year-old following the defeat, with many feeling that he should not actually be in the starting lineup - he has started 18 of their 19 league games, coming on as a substitute in the other.
However, there was also some support for Osborn, with some feeling that he had been unfairly criticised by some of the fans given that his effort can rarely be questioned.
Here is the best of the mixed reaction...
I thought the team selection was wrong. Walker coming in for Bridcutt was strange when we had Bouch available. Osborn was poor. #nffc— Hannah Forest ⚪️⚽️ (@hannahforest) November 26, 2017
Massively missed bridcutt today! Carayol has to get more minutes, and walker has to learn how to receive the ball at a angle rather than back to goal, staggered people slate Osborn always shows always wants it never hides and gives us so much energy #nffc— Danny fox (@foxphysique) November 26, 2017
⚪Ben Osborn shouldn't be anywhere near the starting eleven after recent performances. Zac Clough can feel extremly hard done by. Osborn has zero creativity. Poor man's Milner I'm afraid. #NFFC ⚪— NFFCEugene Dadi ⚪️ (@larsbohemian) November 26, 2017
I didn't understand the thinking in playing Osborn in the middle against a team like Cardiff. No surprise that our midfield was overrun. If Bouch isn't going to start on days like today then a new signing is needed. McGinn?— Ravi (@ForestRav) November 26, 2017
Starting to join the dark side when it comes to Osborn... Don't see what he adds. We play 4231 and he's not a holding midfielder, a winger or a number 10, so struggling to see what he adds I'm afraid #NFFC— Gaz (@NFFC2017) November 26, 2017
Osborn just turns and passes it back. Feel sorry for Murphy, constantly isolated up front. Lichaj created more than our entire midfield today.— Jack (@MrJsd007) November 26, 2017
He still in his interview raves about Ben Osborn man is clueless— Paul Richardson (@ricoforest30) November 26, 2017
How often do we hear Ben osborn didn't have the best of afternoons but he is never dropped. Poor again today #nffc— Tony Martin (@nffcSVC) November 26, 2017
