According to a report from ESPN, Everton are preparing to make a move for Charlton defender Ezri Konsa during the January transfer window as Arsenal keep a keen eye on the youngster.

Konsa is the latest Addicks youngster catching the eye in the divisions above, and looks set to follow the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Ademola Lookman and Joe Gomez by making a move to the Premier League as ESPN reports that the League One side are resigned to losing the 20-year-old.

ESPN adds that Arsenal have been scouting Konsa regularly this season, but Everton hope to win the race before the interest intensifies too much by swooping for the starlet once the winter window opens

What may well help the Toffees in their pursuit of the defender perhaps, is the fact that the Merseyside club have done business with Charlton fairly recently, having signed Lookman from The Valley at the start of the year.

Though Lookman has not enjoyed the best time since arriving at Goodison Park for £11 million (via BBC Sport), he proved with his Everton debut that he clearly has the potential to be a special player - and the change of manager may perhaps help him prove that.

And with Konsa looking destined for an extremely bright career at the highest level also, it would arguably be a coup for Everton if they did manage to win the race for the youngster, especially given the competition for his signature.
