Stoke are struggling at the moment and could be facing the threat of relegation from the Premier League as the season progresses, and the 26-year-old winger could be tempted to move to St. James’ Park in the January transfer window or next summer.

Stoke paid Inter Milan a transfer fee of £12 million, as reported by BBC Sport, in the summer of 2015 in order to secure the services of Shaqiri, who will play for Switzerland at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia next summer.
