Liverpool talent Dominic Solanke got the opportunity of a lifetime last night as he came off the bench for England against Brazil.

Solanke has barely featured for Liverpool this season, but his performances for England's under-20 World Cup winning side this summer helped earn a call up for this friendly match.

Manager Gareth Southgate gave Solanke a chance to show what he could do for the last 20 minutes, along with former Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham.

Solanke was the more lively of the two, although neither could make the breakthrough in an evenly contested 0-0 draw.

Pundit Ian Wright told ITV's live coverage after the game he was impressed with Solanke's cameo appearance.

He said: "I was quite pleased with him when he came on. He was up for it right from the off."

He added of Solanke not quite managing to get the time he needed in possession, "(he learned) you don't get the touches at this level."

Solanke has been given an incentive by Gareth Southgate, to earn a shot at the World Cup squad this coming summer.

To do so realistically he must force his way into Liverpool's XI, which will not be easy.

Daniel Sturridge is one player blocking his path, while Danny Ings has not given up on his Liverpool adventure.

At present though Solanke has a chance. Now he has to use this experience as added inspiration.
