According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic are interested in signing Reading defender Liam Moore, and could launch a £5million bid for the centre back in January.

Moore, 24, came up through the ranks with Leicester City, captaining their youth sides and making 67 appearances for the Foxes first team before leaving in 2016.

The former England Under-21 international joined Reading in the summer of 2016 after finding first-team football hard to come by at Leicester, and he has thrived with the Royals.

Moore starred last season as Reading reached the Championship play-off final, and was handed a new four-year contract in August, seemingly tying his future to the Madejski Stadium.

The Daily Record now report that Celtic are keen on Moore, with manager Brendan Rodgers interested in raiding his former club to snap up another centre back, with a £5million January bid potential in the pipeline.

Injuries to Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic have shown up Celtic's lack of depth at centre back, and making a bid for Moore may just give Rodgers more solidity at the back.

However, Reading fans are far from impressed with the rumours, urging the club to keep hold of Moore if they have legitimate aspirations of progressing, even joking that the Royals should only consider an offer of £50million plus Moussa Dembele.

Others noted that £5million would be a joke of a fee for one of the Championship's top defenders, whilst many suggested that moving from the Championship to the Scottish Premiership would be a hilarious step down for Moore.
