Ray Wilkins has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 14th November, that he would love to see Ally McCoist and Peter Reid team up at Sunderland.

Sunderland are still looking for a new manager to take over from Simon Grayson, with their search now going on for over a fortnight.

The Black Cats have been linked with a host of different options, with Reid and McCoist two of the names touted as potential candidates.

And Wilkins believes that if the pair teamed up at the Stadium of Light then it could be a great partnership.

Leeds manager Peter Reid instructs his players during the FA Barclaycard Premiership match between Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road on October 4, 2003, Leeds, England.

“I’d love to see it happen,” Wilkins said. “Reid has great knowledge. It’s been really unfortunate that he’s not been in the job.”

Reid and McCoist certainly have in depth knowledge of Sunderland, having previously represented the club.

But the duo would have a tough job on their hands, if they were to take over at the Stadium of Light.
