Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to Mo Diame links with Aston Villa

Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame has been linked with a move to Aston Villa today.

Newcastle United fans have urged Rafael Benitez to sell Mohamed Diame, after it was reported that he wanted a move to Aston Villa today.

The Daily Mirror have suggested that Diame is keen to link back up with Steve Bruce in their printed edition (page 47, 13th November).

Diame and Bruce worked together at Hull City earlier in their respective careers, when the midfielder enjoyed one of his best runs of form in England.

The 30-year-old has, more recently, lost his way at Newcastle - and Magpies fans are keen for him to be offloaded.

Diame has generally been used in reserve for Newcastle so far this season, with Benitez favouring other options.

The Senegalese international was handed a start in Newcastle’s match against Burnley recently, but he did not do much to convince he was ready to play more regularly.

If Diame was to move to Villa, he would join Steve Bruce’s side as they aim for promotion from the Championship.

Villa are currently in sixth place in the second tier standings, after a strong run of form recently.
