Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Manchester United defender.
According to the Daily Star, Newcastle United remain interested in Luke Shaw and, with the Times claiming Manchester United are ready to cash in for £20million, it would be a risk well worth taking for the Magpies.
While Newcastle would have to spend big to get a deal over the line, talk of a takeover at St. James' Park could ultimately ensure Rafa Benitez has a significant war chest at his disposal - something that was not the case last summer.
If Newcastle do ultimately have the money to bring in a player of Shaw's calibre, they should do everything in their power to be at the front of the queue.
The left-back's stock may have fallen during his time at Old Trafford but that should not reflect his ability, with Shaw still possessing the raw potential to become one of the best players in his position in Europe.
The horror injury he suffered during Louis van Gaal's time at United should not be understated when it comes to Shaw's struggles since, and a change of scene could be ideal as he bids to get his career back on track.
Prior to that injury blow Shaw was in outstanding form and he can rediscover that if he is allowed to.
Newcastle are in need of a quality left-back for the long term and Shaw fits the bill, provided of course Benitez is given the funds he would need to get a deal over the line.
