Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the prolific Turkish forward.
According to Turkish publication Haberturk, Besiktas are considering Demba Ba as a potential replacement for Cenk Tosun, with the latter linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs may already have Harry Kane and Fernando Llorente on their books, but a recent report from the same publication claimed Tottenham have opened talks about the possibility of bringing Tosun to North London, with Besiktas hoping for a round £18million in return.
The Turkish international has scored 10 goals in 15 games this season and has a total of 60 strikes in 133 appearances for Besiktas.
That is a fine record and it is no surprise Tottenham are interested, but it remains to be seen if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would sanction an £18million bid for a player who could struggle for regular game time at Wembley.
With Harry Kane the undisputed first-choice for Mauricio Pochettino's side, and with Llorente a more than able if under-used deputy, the signing of Tosun would suggest a potential change of thinking from a side that has realistic aspirations of finishing this season with a major trophy.
At 26, Tosun is arguably at his peak and if Tottenham are going to make their move, now may be the best time, especially with Besiktas said to be considering a free transfer to bring in Ba as his replacement.
