Aston Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak featured for Australia in their 2018 World Cup playoff tie against Honduras on Friday night.
Jedinak turned out for Australia in the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONCACAF–AFC play-off) against Honduras at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula.
The 33-year-old started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it ended in a goalless draw.
Australia fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Jedinak against Honduras.
Below are some of the best comments:
Apologies for being patronising, but saying Jedinak's keeping out Rogic is absurd to me. They're like night and day. No matter how you approach the game tactically, somebody still has to do defensive work in order to make an attacking midfield position feasible.— Bryn (@voyeuristicvole) November 11, 2017
Considering Jedinak has barely played any football I surprised he got through 90 today— M4KS (@MEMBER4KS) November 11, 2017
I be surprised if he starts when Ange has a more than capable rested replacement in Milligan who hasn't left the country etc
Agree jedinak deserves 3 or even 2 votes— ΦυΣΣ (@FN253) November 11, 2017
Jedinak boss whats wrong with Rogić Everytime green gold shirt . Good enough celtic— big fella (@BigZuco) November 11, 2017
Jedinak is a holding midfielder and did brilliantly today. Rogic is more an attacking midfielder and he is inconsistent.— Ildfluer (@ildfluer) November 11, 2017
Jedinak put in a top shift— ΦυΣΣ (@FN253) November 11, 2017
Luongo was best on ground. Mooy was good in general play but his set pieces woeful. Jedinak was a steadying influence & saw the game out.— Hurler on the Ditch (@Oblivious_troll) November 11, 2017
Jedinak is huge for us - we looked really composed with the skipper out there!— David Raffaele (@raffaele_david) November 11, 2017
Over the course of the 90 minutes, hosts Honduras had 44% of the possession, took five shots of which one was on target, and earned three corners, according to BBC Sport.
