Hibernian midfielder John McGinn has suggested to BBC Sport (22:06) that he was impressed with the performance of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney for Scotland against the Netherlands on Thursday evening.
Scotland and the Netherlands faced each other at the Pittodrie Stadium in a friendly international match.
Memphis Depay’s goal in the 40th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides, as the Dutch won 1-0.
Celtic defender Tierney featured for Scotland in the match, as he started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes as a centre-back.
Hibernian midfielder McGinn also played in the game, and the 23-year-old former St. Mirren star has spoken highly of Tierney, who is a left-back by trade.
"Kieran Tierney led by example,” McGinn told BBC Sport (22:06). “He is only 20 but he was beckoning us forward.”
McGinn is a very promising midfielder and has been linked with a move to Celtic.
According to Betvictor.com, the 23-year-old is 8/1 to sign the Glasgow giants in the January transfer window.
Former Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs told The Daily Record in October that McGinn would be a good replacement for Scottish midfielder Scott Brown at Celtic.
