Michael Ball appears to launch scathing attack on Morgan Schneiderlin as well as Everton's recruitment team

Former Everton defender Michael Ball has appeared to lay into Morgan Schneiderlin after the Toffees' Europa League defeat in Lyon.

Everton were comfortably beaten 3-0 by the French side and exit the competition despite having two group stage matches left to play.

Second-half strikes from Bertrand Traore and Houssem Aouar sent the home side 2-0 up, shortly before Schneiderlin saw red for a second bookable offence.

Schneiderlin's old Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay then compounded Everton's misery with another goal two minutes from time.

Shortly after the Frenchman's dismissal, Ball appeared to aim the following tweet in his direction:

 

But Ball's criticism did not end there, with Everton's recruitment team next to bear the brunt of the former left-back's frustration.

David Unsworth's side lined up at the Groupama Stadium with no recognised centre forward and playmaker Gyfi Sigurdsson filling in.

Ball added:

 

Unsworth is expected to continue in caretaker charge for Sunday's Premier League game against Watford, as Everton continue their search for Ronald Koeman's replacement.
