Sheffield Wednesday returned to winning ways against Millwall on Tuesday, courtesy of goals from Adam Reach and Jordan Rhodes.
Wednesday had few problems going forward - taking 18 shots, of which five were on target - but continued to look vulnerable at the back, despite making three changes to the side that drew with Barnsley on Saturday.
Glenn Loovens, Morgan Fox and Liam Palmer were each restored to Carlos Carvalhal's side, yet Millwall did not have to do much to score with their first meaningful attack.
Winger Fred Onyedinma picked up the ball just inside the Wednesday half proceeded to charge down the right flank, where he was trailed by Fox.
Sensing the danger, Loovens stepped out from his central position and attempted what looked to be routine challenge, only to bounce off Onyedinma, who continued into the box.
From there, the Millwall player's shot ricocheted off a lunging Tom Lees and was flicked into the goal in unconventional style by Tom Elliott, who was lurking at the far post.
It was not the first time in recent weeks that a mistake by Loovens - who was making only his second appearance since mid-August - has led to an opposition goal, after his concession of a penalty and subsequent red card at Derby last month.
And Wednesday fans were far from impressed with their captain's display:
Jesus Christ Glenn Loovens defending for Millwalls goal was terrible similar to Derby...he’s horrendous #swfc— Iain Watson (@IainWatson7) November 1, 2017
Btw, Loovens needs dropping now. He’s so unfit and we have a better option on the bench in Van Aken. Use him— O (@O_SWFC) October 31, 2017
If anyone thinks Glen Loovens is the answer at the back they're deluded!!! The mans a mistake waiting to happen!! League one at best!!— Matt (@mattdb29) October 31, 2017
Turgid at times but worked hard for the win. Think I’d prefer a naive Van Aken to the liability that sadly is Loovens #swfc— Tom Chittenden (@tjchitt86) October 31, 2017
Get rid of Loovens. Not good enough for the job at all. #swfc— King of the North (@AdamLukeEccles) October 31, 2017
Loovens looks like a liability this season. Been a great servant to #swfc but unfortunately think he's past his best now— James S (@james____s) October 31, 2017
