Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas has predicted on Skysports.com that Tottenham Hotspur will win against Real Madrid this week.

Tottenham will take on Madrid at the Wembley Stadium in London in Champions League Group H on Wednesday evening.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid earlier this month.

Former Arsenal forward Nicholas has backed Mauricio Pochettino’s side to pick up all three points from the encounter.

The former Celtic and Scotland international has also backed Tottenham striker Harry Kane to score first if he is fit.

“Real Madrid had a shocking result losing to Girona on Sunday and if Kane is fully fit then they are there for the taking,” Nicholas wrote on Skysports.com.

“They look all over the place and looking to blame each other, with Sergio Ramos likely to be up to his old tricks and Cristiano Ronaldo unhappy with the physical treatment he'll get from Tottenham's defence.”

A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: 2-1 and Kane to score first.”

If Kane is fit and starts the match, then Tottenham will have a good chance of winning against Madrid given the European giants’ disappointing form of late.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are not playing well at the moment, and playing at home will give Spurs an advantage.

Although Madrid will head into the match at Wembley confident of drawing, an early goal for Spurs could give Los Blancos for their money.
