Jack Cork, for whom Burnley paid Swansea City a reported fee of £10 million in July, was crowned man of the match as the Clarets beat Newcastle United 1-0 at Turf Moor on Monday.
And after helping his new employers to seventh in the Premier League with 10 games played, Cork is being talked up for an England place by many Burnley supporters.
The 28-year-old played for the Three Lions at every youth level between under-16 and under-21, and appeared three times for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games.
And Burnley fans believe Cork should feel somewhat hard done by:
jack cork is class, how hes not looked at for england yet jake livermore is i have no idea— ben (@zxcvb3n) 30 October 2017
England midfielders for the World Cup likely to be Henderson, Dier and Livermore but not Jack Cork, tells you everything about Southgate— Andy (@andyburnleyfc) 30 October 2017
How has Jack Cork never played for England? Quality footballer and you get plodders like Jake Livermore in the squad.— Mitch Le Tissier (@MitchLeTiss42) 30 October 2017
If jack cork continues to play like that then for sure he deserves an England call up... if Henderson can then why not! #MNF— Alex phypers (@AlexPhypers) 30 October 2017
If Jack Cork isn't in the debate about England central midfielders for the World Cup, then Southgate is asleep at the wheel. #twitterclarets— Neil Lavery (@NCLavery) 30 October 2017
Massive 3 points. Jack Cork, wow! Gareth Southgate are you watching?! Come on you Clarets! #twitterclarets— Jonny Lupton (@jlup1980) October 30, 2017
Is Burnley's Cork due an England call up [at the expense of Liverpool's Henderson and West Brom's Livermore]?
