Newcastle United will be desperate to generate some momentum with three points against Burnley on Monday night at Turf Moor - and Toon fans have called on Rafa Benitez to start Mikel Merino in midfield.

The Toon travel to Lancashire in search of a second successive league win, after earning a late 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend thanks to a powerful Merino header in the 86th minute.

However, the 21-year-old ace did not start the match against Roy Hodgson's side, coming off the bench to head home and it remains to be seen if Benitez trusts the lofty Spaniard enough to start him on Monday night.

Benitez must choose from Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden, Mohamed Diame and former Borussia Dortmund ace Merino for the two central-midfield slots in his 4-2-3-1 system ahead of Monday's clash, but fans are clear to who they want.

The Toon faithful took to Twitter in an attempt to convince manager Benitez that Merino must start from the off after his winning goal last time out, with one fan asking if you can pick him "11 times?"
