Nottingham Forest defender Eric Lichaj has told BBC Radio Nottingham that he doesn’t understand why the atmosphere at the City Ground was so negative at half-time against Burton Albion yesterday.

Forest went into the break with the scores locked at 0-0, after failing to show much of an attacking threat during the first 45 minutes.

Burton’s backline proved to be challenging to break down, but Lichaj wanted to see a bit more patience shown.

“I don’t know why everyone was moaning about the first half, I was pleased to go in 0-0.. a good overall team performance,” he said.

Forest went on to show their class in the second half, and claim the three points in a 2-0 victory.

The Reds scored their first through Barrie McKay, and Lichaj got in on the act to seal the three points.

Lichaj’s celebration was a prolonged one, which showed just how much finding the net meant to the defender.

It was important for Forest to pick up the three points to regain some momentum, after slipping up against Derby County at Pride Park last weekend.

Forest are now in 12th place in the Championship table, and sit just three points away from the play off spaces.
