Malone only joined the Terriers in the summer having been a part of the Fulham side that reached the play-offs last season, but has struggled to break into David Wagner's side and ClubCall suggest that a temporary exit in January may be on the cards for the full-back.
With none of Vurnon Anita, Gaetano Berardi and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson really stamping their authority on the left-back position this term, it would certainly be a good move for Leeds if they were able to land the 26-year-old.
And if Malone does move to Leeds, he will be hoping that he can upset two of his former clubs as it appears that the Whites may have to go through them if they want to secure promotion this season.
The defender came through the ranks at Molineux but never made a first-team appearance for the club, instead spending much of his time out on loan before leaving permanently in 2012.
He arrived at Cardiff in 2015 and went on to make over 50 league appearances for the Bluebirds, before moving to Craven Cottage one year later.
And if Leeds do manage to bring him in in January, he will be hoping to help the Whites get back into the automatic-promotion picture, thus preventing at least one of his old sides from holding onto their current position in the Championship.
